Recent Idlewild Thefts
Over the weekend of June 5th there were several crimes in our neighborhood. One of our neighbors had a car stolen. It was later tracked down in Lansing. Also, another neighbor had items stolen from their car. On Sunday, Dave Halley noticed an unusual vehicle parked in the neighborhood. It was still parked there in the afternoon so they went to check it out.
Cancelled: 2020 Annual Idlewild Dinner
The Idlewild Board regrets to announce that the Annual Dinner/Board Meeting is cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns. It will not be rescheduled.
Motorized Watercraft Prohibited on Gull Lake Through April
A gentle reminder that the latest Michigan “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order prohibits the use of motorized watercraft on Michigan waterways until at least May 1. The Michigan DNR is enforcing this.
Boats with motors and jet skis are prohibited; sailboats, kayaks, row boats, canoes and paddleboats are fine.
Thanks to everyone in advance for helping to keep all of us safe!
New signage
You’ve probably noticed some new signs around Idlewild, thanks to the Kalamazoo County Road Commission. The Reids’ dog, Lucy, definitely did, and insisted on being walked to go see them…
Limited Yard Waste Pickup Resumes April 28
Republic Services will resume yard waste pickup on Tuesday, April 28th in Idlewild, but only of approved containers. For the time being, no additional bags or containers will be emptied, so that Republic employees can stay within their vehicles.

Idlewild From Above
Repaving Idlewild
[UPDATE] Work begins Tuesday, July 10th, starting with the ‘milling’ phase, to be followed (we believe) by the tar and chip seal phases.
Idlewild is scheduled to be completely repaved in the coming weeks. The Kalamazoo County Road Commission has a system in place where if you sign up and indicate your neighborhood, they will send you a weekly construction update so you will know when they are scheduled to come and do this work.
