Recent Idlewild Thefts

Over the weekend of June 5th there were several crimes in our neighborhood.  One of our neighbors had a car stolen.  It was later tracked down in Lansing.  Also, another neighbor had items stolen from their car.  On Sunday, Dave Halley noticed an unusual vehicle parked in the neighborhood.  It was still parked there in the afternoon so they went to check it out.  They could see stolen items inside.  They started to call the police as a couple rode up on a motorcycle and made some small talk with them.  The couple tried to circle around by the vehicle again but when they saw we were still standing there they made a hasty exit.  Quite sure they are involved in this.  The police say that sometimes thieves steal a vehicle but sometimes they just steal the keys and then circle back at some point and steal the vehicle.  The vehicle was reported as stolen from Augusta.  The property has been returned.  The police warn everyone to be alert and keep everything locked up!  If anyone has surveillance footage that would be helpful please contact the Sheriff.
