- April, 2020: Yard waste pickup will begin again starting Tuesday, April 28th, but no extra bags or cans are allowed for now, as this would require Republic workers to leave their trucks.
- April, 2020: Per the Governor’s Executive Order, motorized watercraft are prohibited on Gull Lake through April. We don’t want to see our neighbors picking up a $500 fine!

- July 2018: A recent die-off of Gull Lake fish and mudpuppies is being investigated by the Michigan DNR, and an initial memo outlining some of the facts can be found here.
- July 2018: For those of you who have not heard, our entire neighborhood is scheduled to be completely repaved in the coming weeks. The Kalamazoo County Road Commission has a system in place where if you sign up and indicate your neighborhood, they will send you a weekly construction update so you will know when they are scheduled to come and do this work. It is called “Road Commission of Kalamazoo County (RCKC) Connect”. Here is a link: https://member.everbridge.net/index/892807736724005#/login. The Elenbaas family has graciously offered the use of their driveway in the event the road is blocked (north end of Idlewild). Their gate may be closed but it is not locked.
- July 2018: Idlewild “Dumpster Week” starts August 31st this year. The dumpster will be at the Buckley’s again (Thanks Fred and Sharon!).
- June 2018: From Jeff Price: “The Gull Lake Association’s (“The Gull Lake Dam Folks”) annual meeting will be held on Monday, June 25 at 7pm at the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary Auditorium. We will be discussing replacement of the dam. We encourage you to attend.”

- Jun 2017: Following up from the Annual Meeting, re: Gravel Pit: A hearing regarding the gravel pit issue is scheduled to take place before 8th District Court Judge Westra on July 20 from 1:30 to 4 pm.

- Oct 2015: Recycling customers, you will no longer need to sort recyclables, and your bins will be exchanged for free for a 96 gallon cart the week of October 26th. Pickups dates remain unchanged.
- Aug 2015: The Salvation Army will be in Idlewild on Thursday, August 13th. Just place your boxes/bags at the street by 8AM, with a sheet of paper marked “Salvation Army.” It’s that easy!
- Jun 2015: Be on the lookout for an orange kayak, lost from Highland Park in the storms of Monday, 22 June.

- May 2015: A reminder as our busy season approaches: tell your family, tell your friends, and tell your contractors that the posted speed limit in Idlewild is 15 mph. Please help us be safe this summer!!
- May 2015: Bill English of the Gull Lake Association reports that the Gull Lake Dam appears to have survived Saturday’s magnitude 4.2 earthquake in fine shape!

- Jul 2014: Republic Waste has informed us that we were incorrect when we said that you didn’t need to separate recycling — sorry about that! You must continue to separate glass, metal and plastic from paper and cardboard. It’s best to put the paper and cardboard in paper bags.
